Pool Filters
Filters are essential devices which every swimming pool needs to have. These devices capture the particles and dirt that automatic and manual cleaners fail to get rid of. Pool filters can be classified into three types: sand, diatomaceous earth or DE, and cartridge.
The sand filter is designed to trap grime and particles in a pool. As it takes in dirt, the efficiency of the filter improves, and eventually it collects more dirt. However, it needs to be cleaned when its pressure gauge reaches a certain limit. Generally, the sand bed of this kind of filter must be changed after seven years. Gradual inefficiency is at times difficult to notice; however, a filter with an ample size could exceed ten years between replacements of sand.
Diatomaceous earth or DE filters can catch particles and dirt that are invisible to the human eye. Similar to sand filters, their pressure gauges tell the user if they need backwashing. After the filter has been washed, filter powder has to be poured to its skimmer. To thoroughly clear its grids, this kind of filter has to undergo yearly breakdown.
The last kind of filter uses a cartridge. Cartridge filters also trap dirt efficiently. The cartridge needs to be detached from its tank and washed thoroughly with a regular hose to take away dirt once its pressure gauge reaches the predetermined limit. The cartridge needs to be changed after 2 to 5 years; however, this depends on the frequency of its usage. Cartridge filters that have adequate sizes can function for half a year between cleanings. |
